A researcher is looking to hear from housing co-ops in the West Midlands as efforts continue to grow the UK sector.
The survey is being carried out by Co-operative Futures to identify the impact that housing co-ops have on those living in them, and on their surrounding communities.
It ties in with work by the co-op business consultancy on ways to ‘make co-operative deserts bloom’ – the theme of its annual conference in February, which took the form of creative workshop sessions.
Researcher Emily Pittaway, who took part in the conference, hopes the new study will shed light the barriers to growth in the co-op housing sector.
She said: “I want as many housing co-operative members to participate as possible, because the data could help the movement expand.”
The survey only takes five minutes to fill in, but Ms Pittaway is also keen to carry out phone interviews with some co-op members to get a deeper insight into the movement.
She is hoping to gather responses to the survey, which can be found online here, by April 17.
