The Central England Co-operative is looking for a financially qualified independent non-executive director to join its board.
Candidates must have a proven track record of decision-making at a senior level, in addition to an understanding of boardroom dynamics and the co-operative ownership model. As part of the role, the selected person will act as the chair of the board’s Audit and Risk Committee.
The position is particularly aimed at qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc) with relevant experience of a large organisation, such as chief financial officers. A strong awareness and understanding of risk management, corporate governance and pensions would also be desirable for this role.
Jim Watts, society secretary, said: “The Board is looking to appoint someone who can add value and contribute to shaping the Society’s continued success.
“If you think you have the expertise to make a difference and share our values of co-operation, fair play and responsible business practice, we would love to hear from you.”
The role requires approximately 20 days annual commitment with remuneration of £9,104 a year.
Headquartered in Lichfield, the Central England Co-operative is one of the largest independent retail co-operative societies in the UK, with over 8,000 staff across more than 400 trading outlets in 16 counties. The society operates food stores, petrol filling stations, funeral services, travel shops and property investment.
