The Co-op Group is inviting members with proven experience at board level to stand for election to its main Group Board as a Member Nominated Director.
The Group’s board includes four member nominated directors (MNDs), one or more of whom stand for election each year at the AGM.
This year there is one vacancy for an MND to join the board.
Members need to meet a set of criteria in order to qualify to stand for elections.
These include:
- an accomplished track record at an equivalent level in a substantial organisation
- an awareness of the strategic and operational challenges of a business of the size and complexity of the Co-op
- an understanding of the needs of a business of the scale and complexity of the Co-op
- integrity, independence and empathy with co-operative values and principles which can be evidenced in actions and behaviours, the ability to contribute, at board level, on a range of commercial and financial issues with experience of risk management and strategic engagement
In addition, candidates need to meet the membership criteria. They need to have been a Co-op Member for at least three years prior to submitting a nomination and acquired at least 1,000 trading points in the current financial year.
Adrienne Lowe, from the Members’ Council who chairs the joint MND Nominations Committee said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Co-op members to have their voice heard in the boardroom. Having our members on our board is part of our co-op difference – it sets us apart from other investor owned businesses.”
The application will close at midday on 18 December. More information on how to apply is available on the Co-op Group’s website or by emailing [email protected].
