Midcounties Co-op’s Little Pioneers Nursery in Leamington Spa has raised over £450 for Warwickshire Young Carers’ Project at a family fair.
The day of family activities at the Leamington Grove Nursery was supported by other local businesses including Warwick Castle, Stratford Butterfly Farm and Cotswolds Wildlife Park, who all contributed to the tombola.
The Warwickshire Young Carers’ Project is an independent charity that provides respite for youngsters who would otherwise be unable to take a break. The project works with carers – some as young as six – and aims to improve the lives of young carers across Warwickshire.
It offers support to young carers – lending an ear, signposting to other services, providing activities and workshops and helping them achieve their own goals. It also works to raise awareness of unpaid carers in Warwickshire and encourage a wider recognition of their contribution to society.
Deb Bignell, chief executive at Warwickshire Young Carers’ Project, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the kindness and generosity shown by everyone who helped organise and came along to the fair. The funds will make an incredible difference to young carers in our region.”
The event forms part of Midcounties’ regional communities strategy, which sees members and colleagues come together to provide impactful and sustainable support for local community groups through volunteering and fundraising initiatives.
Leanne Bowen, nursery manager at Little Pioneer, said: “The fair was a brilliant way to bring together the local community and it was heartwarming to see everybody get behind this fantastic cause.”
