Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) is welcoming applications for scholarship programmes aimed at co-operative researchers.
The first set of scholarships are for the Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation, administered by CMC.
These are: the Alexander Fraser Laidlaw Fellowship (graduate students only) sponsored by the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada; the Amy and Tim Dauphinee Scholarship (graduate students only) sponsored by Ontario Credit Union Charitable Foundation; and the Lemaire Co-operative Studies Award (undergraduate or graduate students).
As well as funding, the winners of each scholarship will receive a one-year membership in the Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation (CACS) and free registration at the 2018 CACS conference. The deadline for for applications is 30 April.
Funding for co-operative researchers is also available through the Ian MacPherson legacy fund launched in partnership by the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF), Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) and the Canadian Association for Studies in Co-operation (CASC).
The fund was set up in memory of the late Ian MacPherson, a leading co-op researcher. It is used to support attendance at research conferences, direct research on co-operatives, and encourage student engagement with co-ops through education programmes.
The 2017 applications for funding are now open with priority being given to students at post-secondary institutions who are 35 or younger and doing co-operative research or education.
