The Bright Future programme is bringing in a new logo, designed by students from Co-op Academy Failsworth.
The programme provides job opportunities to those rescued from modern slavery. Pioneered by the Co-op Group and the anti-slavery charity City Hearts, the scheme has grown to include 21 charities and 15 businesses, including Dixons Carphone, the John Lewis Partnership and the Body Shop. By signing up to the programme, they also offer to provide placements for those rescued from modern slavery.
To find a suitable logo for the programme, students from the Co-op Academies Failsworth, Manchester, Leeds and Swinton were invited to create a logo. Four logos entered were shortlisted with the winner being chosen by the Bright Future Partners. The winning logo came from Jamie Brabin and Daniel Aitken from the Co-op Academy Failsworth.
Paul Gerrard, policy and campaigns director at the Co-op Group said: “The competition gave us the opportunity to talk to the students about what modern slavery is, why the Co-op is involved, and how we’ve been campaigning for better support for victims of this horrific crime.
“To have the opportunity to stand in front of young students – the next generation of thinkers, campaigners and co-operators – was a real honour. If we can inspire and educate these young people, in the future it’s easy to imagine a world where modern slavery no longer exists.”
