Co-op retail giant teams up with Jamie Oliver on new barbecue line

Coop Switzerland has joined forces with TV chef Jamie Oliver to launch a new range of barbecue products.

The range of 16 items includes barbecues, barbecue covers, terracotta bowls, knife blocks and knives.

The launch is accompanied with a new loyalty scheme, Trophée Coop Jamie Oliver, which gives shoppers a stamp for every ten francs spent.

When Coop customers have collected 25 stamps, they will receive substantial discounts on the Jamie Oliver-endorsed products, with some prices slashed as much as 87%.

A new innovation means customers can now collect digital stamps on their smartphones via the Supercard app on the Coop website.

The launch continues the celebrity chef’s association with the retailer, which began stocking his kitchen kit and food ranges in 2007.

Last year, Coop Switzerland, which has 2.5million members, grew its total sales by 5.2% to CHF 28.3bn. It is one of the country’s biggest retail and wholesale companies, with more than 2,200 shops and more than 54,000 employees.
