The Co-operative College is launching a new training course on international co-operative development.
The course, which starts on 10 May, will consist of two webinars and a day school to show how co-ops can empower communities around the world. It will build on the College’s 15-year experience of co-operative development training, which has covered countries such as Malawi, Sri Lanka and Rwanda.
Participants will learn about the diversity and reach of the global co-operative movement and explore the similarities and differences in how co-ops work in the UK and other countries. And they will look at the “co-operative difference” in international development and the role of education in this.
The workshops will be delivered by the College’s Dr Sarah Alldred, project development manager, and Dr Amanda Benson, projects and research co-ordinator.
Dr Alldred said: “With international projects in progress across Europe and Africa, we felt now was the right time to share some of the expertise we’ve built up over many years working in international co-operative development. We’re extremely excited to run a course on such an inspiring theme and can’t wait to welcome attendees from all corners of the world.”
The webinars take place on 10 and 24 May and the day school is scheduled for 9 June at the College’s premises in Manchester. The College is offering a range of bursaries for its courses and a discount for members.
