Credit unions nominated for Ethical Financial Services Provider award

‘It really does help raise awareness of the positive impact credit unions are having within society’

Just Credit Union and Plane Saver Credit Union are among nominees for the UK’s Ethical Financial Services Provider of the Year award, as part of the MoneyAge Awards to be presented on 18 October.

The awards, now in their third year, are presented for banks, building societies and credit unions that have been recognised for offering a new product, focus on value and customer service.

Karen Farrow, chief officer at Just Credit Union, said: “Making the shortlist is a huge honour and testimony to the fact that we place improving the financial wellbeing of our members above all else.”

Pat Buchanan, chair of Just, added: “Making the shortlist not only recognises the hard work that the Just Credit Union team puts in every day, but also the ethical manner and customer focused way we operate.”

Plane Saver’s chief executive Valerie Walwyn said: “We are extremely proud to be nominated. It’s a reflection of the great work we have been doing in order to help serve the armed forces community.

“With both Plane Saver and Just Credit Union on the shortlist, it really does help raise awareness of the positive impact credit unions are having within society.”

The awards, judged by an independent panel of experts from various fields of personal finance, will be announced at a celebratory gala dinner at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London on 18 October, which is also International Credit Union Day.
