East of England Co-op Funeral Services is raising funds for the Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service with a special screening of cult classic movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The screening, at the Caister-on-Sea Community Cinema in Norfolk on Friday 5 October, will see prizes handed out for the best fancy dress outfit, with a complimentary drink and snacks included with the £10 ticket.
The comedy musical, starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick, tells the story of sweethearts Brad and Janet who seek refuge at the bizarre residence of Dr Frank-N-Furter when their car gets a flat tyre during a storm.
All proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service, ensuring boats and equipment are maintained and the crew are trained. Britain’s first independent lifeboat service, it’s staffed by a team of unpaid volunteers who have been helping save lives at sea along the Norfolk and Suffolk coastline since 1791.
Event organiser Katie Rogers, funeral co-ordinator at the Caister branch, said: “We have a great relationship with both the Community Cinema and Lifeboat Service here in Caister. I’m looking forward to bringing them together and inviting the community to join us for what promises to be a night of fun and laughter whilst raising funds for such a valuable service.”
Tickets are available to purchase in advance from East of England Co-op Funeral Services, 72b High Street, Caister (open Monday-Friday 9.30am- 4.30pm) or by calling 01493 722380. They are also available from the Caister Community Cinema at The Council Hall, Yarmouth Road (open every other Friday evening).
