The president of the International Co-operative Alliance, Monique Leroux, is joining Canadian asset management firm Fiera Capital as vice chair and strategic adviser.
The new role also makes Ms Leroux a member of the firm’s strategic development committee.
“It is big news for Fiera Capital, our employees, our shareholders and our numerous clients and partners,” said Jean-Guy Desjardins, chair of the board of directors and president and chief executive officer of Fiera Capital.
“Monique Leroux is a renowned and respected person in this country’s financial sector. She embodies thoroughness and excellence, in addition to having forged an exceptional reputation everywhere she has worked.
“Her career path has made her an admired person in finance, be it at the head of important Canadian organisations, on boards of directors or within international groupings. Fiera Capital is stronger today with the arrival of Ms Leroux, as her contribution will give a new push to the second phase of our strategic plan which will lead us to 2020.”
Ms Leroux is also president of the board of directors of Investment Quebec and chair of the Economic and Innovation Council of the government of Quebec.
She sits on the boards of Bell (BCE), Couche-Tard (ATD), Michelin (ML-France) and S&P Global. Fiera Capital had more than CAD$116bn in assets under management as in December 2016.
Ms Leroux said: “Fiera Capital is a Canadian flagship firm that shines thanks to the professionals that work with integrity and share a common mission: insuring the full satisfaction of the clients and reaching results.
“I am happy to be able to support Jean-Guy Desjardins and his global management team by assisting a solid and ambitious organisation with development objectives in North America and abroad. It is a stimulating challenge that awaits me and I take it on with enthusiasm.”
