The Lincolnshire Co-operative has invested £500,000 into a new funeral home in Scunthorpe.
The new branch on Oswald Road will include private arrangement lounge, welcoming reception area and chapel of rest.
There will also be a display showing the handiwork of Lincolnshire Co-op’s memorial masons, who use state-of-the-art technology and hand carving skills to create special tributes.
The funeral home will be officially opened during a ceremony on 19 December featuring local dignitaries, guests and clergy members. To mark the launch, the society will also make donations to local charities Lindsay Lodge Hospice and the Rainbow Café, who will receive £250 each.
Scunthorpe branch manager Peter Riley said: “We’re pleased to be bringing our new funeral branch to Scunthorpe. It’ll provide a calm and welcoming place for people to pop in and see us, whether they need support with funeral arrangements or are thinking about planning ahead with a funeral plan so loved ones needn’t worry.
“We pride ourselves on delivering a professional, affordable and sympathetic service whenever families need us. Our highly trained funeral colleagues are always ready to help, even if all that’s needed is a cup of tea and a meaningful chat.

Lincolnshire Co-operative already runs Westcliff Pharmacy and Willoughby Road Food Store and Post Office in Scunthorpe. The society manages 22 funeral homes across its trading area.
