Midcounties Co-op opens new store near Oxford

The store is equipped with energy-efficient lighting, ventilation and refrigeration

Local schoolchildren joined colleagues from Midcounties Co-op at the opening of a new Oxfordshire store with energy saving features.

The retail society unveiled its brand-new Your Co-op Food convenience store at the Duchy Field estate in Bletchingdon, near Kidlington, following a £520,000 investment.

The store is equipped with energy-efficient refrigerators, LED lighting and ventilation. It will also sell compostable carrier bags, as part of the society’s commitment to sustainability and reduction of single-use plastic.

Members from the store team welcome customers to the opening

Pupils at the Bletchingdon Primary School watched as the ribbon was officially cut to welcome shoppers through the doors and celebrate the opening of the store.

The store offers residents a wide range of grocery essentials for breakfast, lunch and dinner – including the COOK frozen ready meal range – along with a food-to-go section, an in-store Costa Coffee machine and a free ATM.

Residents will also benefit from the store’s daily extended opening hours, which are 7am to 10pm.

Midcounties’ new Bletchingdon store

Store manager and wine expert Mike Seaton said: “Our brand-new store is now open for business and my colleagues and I have really enjoyed welcoming local residents today.

“It was great to have children from the Bletchingdon Primary School join in the celebrations and help us with the official ribbon cutting. They did a fantastic job and it created a great atmosphere for our new local customers. We look forward to welcoming shoppers in the coming weeks and becoming a part of the local community.”
