The EMES International Research Network has set up a solidarity fund to support PhD students and early career researchers who focus on social enterprises, co-operatives and voluntary action.
The network, which brings together university research centres and individual researchers on social enterprise, is crowdfunding to enable researchers to attend the 7th EMES International Research Conference on Social Enterprise. So far, the conference has received over 375 proposals.
The fund provides support to scholars who cannot obtain funding through other sources, such as the EMPOWER-SE COST Action, which is available to European researchers. The funding would cover the travel, accommodation and conference fees of at least five researchers from non-OECD countries.
The network highlights that research on social enterprises – including articles, books and evidence-based policy papers – has played a key role in helping to make the case for the sector.
The conference will take place on 24-27 June 2019 at Sheffield Hallam University.
EMES boasts 14 institutional members, 350 individuals and a coordination unit advancing social enterprise research.
