Nominations closing for 2018’s Credit Union Hero of the Year

Award recognises ‘people helping people’

The Credit Union National Association (CUNA) is inviting nominations for the CUNA 2018 Credit Union Hero of the Year Award.

The award aims to recognise those who exemplify the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”, who make extraordinary efforts to make a difference in their communities and demonstrate their service, advocacy and commitment to the credit union movement.

“We seek to recognise those who are making significant contributions that advance the credit union movement,” said Ann Peterson, CUNA’s vice president of publishing. “We’re looking for people who have truly invested their hearts and souls into creating a lasting impression not only at their credit union but on behalf of all credit unions.”

Nominations close on 8 December. To qualify, individuals need to be a credit union system employee or volunteer, working or retired, show dedication to credit union principles and have gone above and beyond to promote these.

“We invest annually to sponsor the Credit Union Hero of the Year Award because it gives us the opportunity to celebrate credit union leaders who live the credit union philosophy every day,” added Jennifer Bryant, vice president of marketing at CSCU.

“We are pleased to partner with CUNA and look forward to celebrating all the 2018 nominees and their commitment to service.”

The selected Credit Union Heroes will be featured in the March edition of the Credit Union Magazine. This year, the award went to James Schenck from Pentagon Federal Credit Union.

The winner will be honoured at America’s Credit Union Conference on 28 June-1 July in Boston.
