Nominations open for 2024 Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada Awards

‘Our sector is filled with so many talented individuals and organisations who demonstrate an immense dedication to our ecosystem and its values’

Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada has opened nominations for its annual awards, which aim to recognise excellence in the Canadian co-operative movement.

The apex hand out six awards this year, each in a different category. Last year, it introduced two new categories to reflect “ongoing shifts within the sector” as well as show its commitment to JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) and environmental priorities. These categories will be maintained in 2024.

The six categories are: Large Co-operative of the Year; Small Co-operative of the Year; Environmental Initiative of the Year; JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) of the Year; Young Co-operator of the Year; and Co-operator of the Year.

“Our sector is filled with so many talented individuals and organisations who demonstrate an immense dedication to our ecosystem and its values. We are proud to continue to highlight them and showcase the incredible work that Canadian co-operatives and mutuals have accomplished,” said Hugues Bourgeois, executive director of CMC.

CMC’s member co-ops can submit nominations for the awards until 23 February. Co-ops can send questions regarding the Awards themselves or the process to Kiswendsida Ouedraogo, governance and projects officer, at kouedraogo@canada.coop.

The awards will be presented at a gala during the apex’s national congress in Halifax on 12 June.
