Police Credit Union celebrates lending over £250m

‘Credit to our team and their continued efforts in supporting the financial needs of our members’

The Police Credit Union (PCU) has hit the milestone of lending more than £250m to its members.

The credit union was set up by the police force to work with serving and retired police officers, police staff and members of their households. It serves over 25,000 members covering England and Wales and now includes prison officers, probation officers and members of the armed forces.

Chief executive Paul Norgrove said: “Everyone at Police Credit Union is extremely proud of achieving this fantastic milestone. Credit to our team and their continued efforts in supporting the financial needs of our members.

“As we continue to expand, both membership and lending, our financial position goes from strength to strength – meaning we can continue to provide competitive returns and invest toward improving the range of services on offer to our members.”

At the beginning of this year, PCU was awarded the 5-star Fairbanking Mark for their lending by the Fairbanking Foundation. This followed a rigorous assessment, which included independent research involving the members of the credit union who confirmed that they have changed their financial behaviour for the better.

Mr Norgrove added: “PCU was extremely pleased to receive the maximum mark awarded for its loan products. Achieving a 5-star rating from the Fairbanking Foundation shows our dedication to providing financial well-being solutions to our members, especially during the current financial climate.

“We will continue our efforts to provide the best service and customer experience to our members and those who join the Police Credit Union, which serves those who serve and protect our country.”
