Radstock Co-operative has been awarded silver accreditation against the Investors in People Standard, in recognition of its commitment to high performance through good people management.
Investors in People defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people effectively to achieve sustainable results. The Investors in People framework, which takes into account workplace trends, essential skills and effective structures, enables organisations to benchmark against the best in the business on an international scale.
“This is a great achievement for us as we celebrate 150 years of our existence,” said Don Morris, chief executive of Radstock.
“We have worked extremely hard over the last few years growing the business to ensure that it has a sustainable future for the next generation. We have used the Investors in People framework to benchmark our people management processes against best practice, and we believe that the revised standard has focussed our people strategies leading to business improvements.
“Attaining silver level of accreditation within the sixth generation framework is a great achievement and what’s encouraging is that we are well on our way to reaching the gold standard.”
The Radstock Co-operative Society was established in 1868 and operates across the Somerset and Wiltshire areas. It employs over 420 colleagues in 18 convenience stores, one large superstore, two travel agencies and a 1,000 acre dairy farm.
