Canadian agri business Sollio Cooperative Group has been named one of Canada’s best-managed businesses.
Run by Deloitte, the Best Managed Companies programme is aimed at Canadian companies with revenues over CA $25m that showcase innovative business practices.
In its 28th year, the programme sees hundreds of enterprises compete for a place, and Sollio says the recognition proves the efficiency of its co-operative business model.
Sollio joined the programme in the New Winners category.
New winners selected each year can re-apply to retain their Best Managed designation for two additional years, subject to annual operational and financial review. Those who retain the designation for several years can then qualify for the Gold Standard winner and the Platinum Card member categories.
“Excellence in our work and performance includes that of our three divisions: Sollio Agriculture, BMR Group Inc., and Olymel L.P,” said Gaétan Desroches, Sollio chief executive.
“Our co-operative business model integrates the scope of our operations across the country, as well as the interests of our divisions, members and producers. This award shows both the resilience of our teams and of our extensive network of agricultural co-operatives, as well as the relevance of our co-operative business model.
“I am extremely proud that our organisation was recognised by the business community. This award is both a symbol of our determination and recognition of our practices, as well as an honour that confirms the relevance of our co-operative values and our actions.”
Dating back to 1922, Sollio is Canada’s largest agricultural co-operative, with more than 123,000 members and CA$8.2bn in sales.
