Southern Co-op’s programme for new starters was recognised at the annual Learning Awards run by the Learning and Performance Institute.
Held on 7 February, the awards recognise high standards, best practice, innovation and excellence in learning and development.
Southern won top prize in the Onboarding Programme of the Year category, with silver going to Media Zoo & Tesco, and bronze to CaixaBank.
Sarah Kavanagh, Southern’s business transformation & HR Ddirector, said: “My team has worked hard to create, launch and embed a successful on-boarding programme for all new employees. It has led to a reduction in labour turnover and our Academy Team has become a core resource within the organisation.
“We are all very proud of what we have been able to achieve but it is really special to have it recognised by such a significant national organisation. With it now being firmly embedded, we are looking forward to seeing even more positive results with all of our new colleagues getting the best possible start to their new careers with Southern Co-op.”
The awards ceremony was hosted by BBC’s Claudia Winkleman and live-streamed around the world.
Set up in 1995, the Learning and Performance Institute is a self-governing professional body for workplace learning professionals.
