Colleagues at a Southern Co-op store have today started their efforts for Charity Awareness Week, with different activities taking place every day.
The team at the society’s Southampton City Gateway store are wearing pink in celebration of Southampton Children’s Hospital Charity – and will raise funds for a new children’s emergency and trauma department. This facility will ultimately benefit all the children who require emergency treatment across south-central England and the Channel Islands.
Tomorrow and Wednesday (24 and 25 July), colleagues and their families will pedal the equivalent of the distance to 25 Southern stores on a static bike.
There will be a host of giveaways for a small donation and the team from Southampton Hospital Charity will be in store on Thursday with a children’s art competition.
Weekend activities will include face painting, a cake sale, and even more pink clothing for colleagues.
Store manager Dean Millar said: “Southampton Hospital Charity is close to our hearts and everyone here gets really passionate about raising money and giving back to a cause which helps so many.
“We would love to see as many people come down as possible and help us to guess the number of sweets in a jar, name the bear and get scribbling for our children’s colouring competition.”
Southampton Hospital Charity is the store’s chosen charity as part of Southern Co-op’s community engagement programme ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’.
Other stores across Southern’s trading area will also be celebrating Charity Awareness Week (23-29 July). More information here.
