A new conference is being inaugurated in the USA to bring together “a broad spectrum of co-operative sectors to build on and amplify the economic impact co-ops have in the US and internationally”.
Impact 2017, organised by the National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International (NCBA CLUSA), will be held this October.
NCBA CLUSA says the event replaces the sector-specific conferences it traditionally hosted and offers opportunity to collaborate and engage with co-op members, supporters, policymakers and other stakeholders.
“As the first and only national cooperative conference of its kind, Impact 2017 will be the premier networking and learning event for co-op members, practitioners and advocates in 2017, as well as an unmissable opportunity to advance the shared interests of the cooperative movement,” said the organisation as it announced the event.
Scheduled for October 4- 6 at the Hilton-Old Town Alexandria in Alexandria, Virginia, this annual conference will focus on the significant role co-ops play in the national and international economy, as well as how the co-op business model values and benefits individuals, businesses and communities.
Beyond plenary sessions that will highlight thought leaders in the field, the conference will feature breakout sessions to dive more deeply into emerging issues and best-in-class learning for purchasing co-ops, international co-operative development professionals, co-op economists and emerging cooperative leaders.
“At its core,” says NCBA CLUSA, “this conference will examine how co-ops can and already are answering some of society’s most important questions around ownership and opportunity.”
