Development agency Wales Co-operative Centre says its recent office move will help promote awareness of co-operative and social business working models.
It recently relocated to the new Canolfan S4C Yr Egin building in Carmarthen, where it hopes to network with a new audience of young creatives and entrepreneurs.
Project manager Marc Davies said: “This is a very exciting move for the centre and the staff. The new Carmarthen office brings in new project partnership opportunities for us, with Business in Focus, Carmarthen County Council and Pembrokeshire County Council also having office space in the S4C building.
“Our Digital Communities Wales project will be one of the main beneficiaries, as many of the building’s tenants are linked to the creative technology industries, which is always looking for new and innovative ways to embed digital inclusion practices into their local communities.”
Opened in October 2018, the building is directly opposite the University of Wales Trinity St David’s College Campus. It is hoped that by moving to this new cluster of influential companies, Wales Co-operative Centre staff will gain better opportunities for networking with the creative arts industries and innovative projects linked to the Swansea Bay City deal programme, which helped finance the new building.
The new space – which can be explored via an online virtual tour – will be used for client meetings, regional coordination and informal meetings in the spacious public café, which has open access wifi.
Wales Co-operative Centre delivers a wide range of government funded projects from Digital Communities Wales, Social Business Wales, Co-operative Housing and Care to Co-operate, all of which are there to help communities come together to make a fairer and more co-operative Wales.
